Sweet Symmetry

For July's Artisan Design Team showcase I was asked to create using the Sweet Symmetry Suite. This suite comprises of the In Symmetry stamp set, Symmetrical Stems punch, Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper and the Flirty Flamingo Gold Metallic Ribbon.

I wanted to create a pennant banner after being inspired by so many on Instagram. In order to make this I grabbed a piece of White Cardstock cut to 6x6". I then used one of the dies from the Basic Borders to create that sweet edging. I also ran the cardstock through my Cut & Emboss Machine using the Greenery Embossing Folders to add a more textured background.

For the flowers I stamped the half flower image using Flirty Flamingo ink, I stamped once onto scrap paper and then stamped again onto white card. This softens the colour and also gives a semi stamped effect which adds to the softness. The leaves were created using Just Jade ink daubed onto the different leaf stamps, again to give softness in some areas. Both the flowers and leaves were fussy cut out using Paper Snip Scissors.

The sentiments from In Symmetry stamp set are so beautiful, the font is gorgeous and swirly (just how I love them!) and the wording lends itself to a variety of creations, whether that be cards, tags, or scrapbooking. I chose the "you are perfectly unique" sentiment to go next to the photo of my son, which I had printed in silvertone. This is easy to do on your iphone, just click the photo and then filters and choose the tone that you prefer. I use a Cannon Selphy to print my photos for my craft projects, they are great for printing a few at a time, and fit the Stampin' Up! Memories & More Pocket Pages perfectly in either full size, or N-up Layout. I love the look of classic photos, they stand out more, and even more so when they are next to colourful papers or stamped images. The sentiment was stamped in Gray Granite ink, and die cut using a Tasteful Label die.

For the origami star box I used one of the beautiful vintage style Sweet Symmetry papers (currently in the DSP sale until 2nd August). This is one of those fancy fold creations that looks super difficult, but actually is super simple. All you need is a trimmer, something to score free hand with, and a curved die (I used one from the Give It A Whirl dies). Check out my Instagram reel here. You can access the full tutorial when you sign up to my Craft Club

I used Linen Thread to fasten the box , which I prettified by adding sweet little baubles on the end. This was so easy to do by simply sticking two Gilded Gems stuck back to back on the end of the thread.

You can purchase all the products I have used directly from the Stampin‘ Up! website. If you add the hostcode for July for any orders over £25 you will receive a thank you gift from me in the post.

Simply add this code at checkout. See below for where to put it.

I hope I have inspired you to add the Sweet Symmetry suite to your shopping cart, and you enjoy creating with it as much as I have.

Love

Anna x
