Welcome to another Eco Blog Hop. We try to showcase ways you can create with Stampin’ Up! using more environmentally friendly materials, recycling and upcycling packaging, and finding uses for paper scraps. Hopefully this will inspire you to get crafty during this time of self isolation.
As we’re in lockdown I had to create something using what I‘ve got to hand. I love the idea of using up whatever stash you have already, as it helps shift from a “lack mentality” to an “abundant mentality“ instead. Something society is really focusing on now. That feeling of what can I make with what I already have. This way we can help reduce the spread of this virus, stay home and focus on what we have and make the most of it.
For my creations this month I used Kraft bags and card scraps to create little Easter treat bags. I really don’t like the plastic pockets that are used for cards, they are not good for the environment, so I started using paper kraft bags last year. I love how easy to recycle they are, and also how great a canvas they make for stamping on.
I started with a kraft bag and an idea I had seen on Pinterest with a cute bunny on a gift bag. I set myself the challenge of recreating it using Stampin’ Up! products. For the large bag, I used a large circle framelit, two ovals from the Stitched Shapes Framelits set, and a couple of punches for the rest.
As the bag was flat I decided to find out how to make the bag stand up so I could pop some Easter treats inside. I found a tutorial on Pinterest for a Bag A Lope (see the tutorial here), which turned an envelope into a gift bag. I thought this was clever, so I applied the same method to the flat kraft bag to turn it into more of a gift bag.
This time the bag was slightly smaller so I changed to a smaller version of the bunny. I used a slightly smaller circle framelit, just one of the ovals for the (outer) ears and petals from the Small Daisy Punch for the (inner) ears, a 1” circle punch for the cheeks, and the Bitty Blooms Punch pack for the eyes and flowers. The nose was drawn on with my Smoky Slate Blend.
I finished the bag with a little Linen Thead and a sentiment from Label Me Bold. Now the next challenge is to create some Easter treats without leaving the house!!
